Exhibiting at overseas trade shows can be an extremely effective way of creating and following up business opportunities.  This applies to Holland  as much as anywhere else, although it maybe necessary for you to make more visits before contracts are won.  It would not be appropriate to travel to Italy without having carried out some research, or agreed some specific meetings in advance.  The ATA and UKTI want your participation in the exhibition to be a success.  The ATA and UKTI can advise you on the market, cultural and business practices and direct you in the right way for preparing to do business in Italy.  In the first instance, always contact your local business links.

Business Links

The British Embassy in Italy has commercial departments staffed by professionals to help and advise British businesses.  They can be of practical help to your company before, during and after the exhibition.  Your local Business Link will be able to co-ordinate, with the British Embassy in Amsterdam, any preparatory work that is necessary ahead of your arrival.

To find your local Business Link Signpost Line, call 0345 567765 or 0141 248 2700 for Scottish Trade International; 02920 825 097 for Welsh Office Overseas Trade Services; 02890 545 339 for IDB Northern Ireland.

UK Trade & Investment

UK Trade & Investment has regional offices throughout the UK, which exist to provide practical assistance to British Exporters.  Whether your company is new to the market or not, you can enlist their help.  They can provide you with market information and advice – from tariffs and regulations to local marketing methods.  They will give you a general idea of the prospects for your product or services and advise you on the best way of tackling the market.
